Environment-friendly pesticide protection biochemicals for plants.

Colorado potato beetle, or Lepinotarsa decemlineata, refers to harmful potato pests. Beetles and grubs of this species eat up thighs and leaves of the plants, and it results in severe crop damage.
All the advantages of foreign-made chemicals in case of potato beetle extermination are accompanied by rather high price.
Moreover, such practice leads to killing of insects, which eat potato beetle grubs, and the result is fading of chemicals.
SB RAS Cytology and Genetics Institute (laboratory of V. M. Tchekurov, Candidate of Science) is engaged in research on development of effective pesticide and disease protection, potato battle protection included.
The preparation of such environment-friendly agents receives primary emphasis.
The obtained biologicals of phytogenic origin (N43, N51, N66 and others) are recently under experimental check.
Being tested by the instructional farm of Novosibirsk Agrarian State University (NASU), these agents proved to be effective in keeping potato beetle down.
The one-use spraying of plants with the agents N43 and N51 (strength of process solution 0,03% and 0,05%) gave the total death of grubs, protective effect remained for a week. In other words, no grubs were detected on plants even after seven days passed.
Agent N66 with concentration of .03% had the strongest pesticide value (three weeks), which could be compared with pyrethroid chemical Citcor.
Hence the trial test of these phytobiologicals holds the greatest promise for potato protection against this beetle.
The field test is scheduled for operation in different regions of the country.
